DO YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO WANTS TO LEARN SQUARE DANCING?
Starting in March a community square dance program (ABC) will start up. For information call Joe Uebelacker 705 657 9084 .

Getting to a Routine

Now that we have had our first couple of dances of the new season it’s time to get to our more regular routine.  From 7-7:30 we’ll be catering to our beginners, then from 7:30 to 9pm we’ll have basic with at least one mainstream teach and 9-9:30 will be mainstream teach.  Hopefully everyone will come enjoy the full 2.5 hours of dancing each week!

We’ve also added more information on our dances page so people can plan for the Halloween Party, the Mainstream Blitz and the Frosty Fling!  Be sure to check it out.

Frosty Fling a great Success!

On January 23rd Otonabee Squares hosted the Frosty Fling dance for over 120 dancers!  The event was a extremely well done and we welcomed members from several other clubs.  A big thank you to all of the Otonabee Squares members who helped with set-up, take-down and organization of the dance.

We now have some photos posted from the Frosty Fling for  you to take a look at.  If you have some photos to share please send them to us!

Back to Business

The club enjoyed a fun party return night this past Monday including a pot luck dinner!  Please send me some photos if you took some!

Starting next week, January 10th, we’ll be welcoming brand new members to the club and their first dance will be free!  We’ll also have some Girl Guides there with us and I can’t wait since I happen to be a Girl Guide leader myself.

We’re also gearing up for the Frosty Fling – we will see you there?  Let us know in the comments section below!

See you Monday!

Last Dance of November!

Wow, it’s the last dance of Novmeber 2010, ALREADY!  The fall dance season has passed quickly and we’ll soon be losing many of our snow birds to southern lands.  Hopefully everyone has new dancers to bring out to the club beginning January 10th at 7:00pm.  It will be a great chance for new club members to learn basics starting from scratch.

Jean Koning missed our club night last week as she was receiving a very prestigious award – the YMCA Peace Medallion.  Fortunately she was able to join us this week and we got to congratulate her on the achievement.  Visit the Peterborough Examiner website to see an article on Jean.

The executive is still looking for basket item donations for the Frosty Fling fundraiser.  Perhaps some of our members will receive a few gifts over the holiday season that they can’t use themselves and would like to re-gift to the club.  Donations will be taken in January.

Last Saturday a few dancers from our club attended a dance in Stouffville with callers Doug Holmes & Grant Logan.  It was a well attended event with about 90 dancers and 10 squares in a small hall.  A good time was had by all at the event and new friends met over snacks at the end.  Our Frosty Fling dance in January was promoted at the event by both callers so hopefully we have a great turn out too!

Finally, please check out the photos page as we’ve added some pictures from the Pie Night hosted by the Lift Lock squares with many of our club members in attendance.
