Canadian National Square Dance Convention

The Canadian National Square Dance Convention is to be held in London, ON. July 19-21.

For all dance levels – each level has a dedicated hall. Dancing daily from 10am to 10pm. Many choices in accommodation: hotels offering special rates for square dancers; Western university and Fanshaw college offer more economical accommodation; camping, motels, B&B., etc.

Mainstream Thursdays

Mainstream Thursdays : 18 Queen Street, Marlbank. 7-9:15pm. Every Thursday starting May 31 to ???. Contact Dave Hutchinson for more information: 613 539 3937

For confident basic dancers who want to learn mainstream and for all mainstream dancers who wish improve your skill at this level. Dave will cover the entire list from many different positions. $7pp.

Camp and Dance

Shady Acres Campground, 740 Serpent Mounds Rd,  Keene.  The Lakeshore Rolling Squares group hold monthly dances.  Air conditioned hall.  Dates are as follows:
Basic dancers:  Fridays – May 25June 15July 13Aug 10 and Sept 14.
                          7:30-9:30pm  Cost: $7.50 pp.  Wayne Whatman is the caller for May and June;  Dave Hutchinson for July; Wayne Hall for August and Laird Green for September.
Mainstream Dancers:  All of the previous dates but you can also attend the Saturday night dances which will be mainstream and plus dancing.
Dates:  May 26June 16July 14Aug 11Sept 15.  Cost: $10pp for both Fri and Sat nights or $7.50 for a single night.

Great Season Dancers!

Sad to say our regular dance season comes to an end today. We have had a wonderful year of dancing, thanks to our caller Wayne and to all of you dancers who have come out every week for the past 9 months with your smiles and enthusiasm and happy dancing feet!
However, don’t put those dance shoes away because there are many opportunities for summer dancing that we’ll be posting for you in the next few days.
First our own club summer dancing: Monday, June 4 and 18 – same time and place. 6:30pm. Emmanuel United Church, 534 George St. N.
Also, don’t forget our annual Summer Driveway dance and picnic: Sunday, July 29 2-7pm

Festival 2014 – National Square Dance Convention

3 night  tour from Peterborough to Ottawa – July 17-20, 2014

A few questions have been brought to me the past few days.  Is our bus trip going ahead?  YES! We have 33 people signed up and have room for 13 more.

We will be travelling on #7 to Ottawa and will be doing a pick-up in Madoc.
If you have not yet registered for the Convention I would suggest you do this before the end of this year because the price will increase by $25 as of January 1, 2014.  Go to www.Festival2014.ca
For our newer dancers, you will be able to dance at this convention. There are dedicated halls for every level – basic too!  Join the fun and experience of attending our national convention!
